Ever wonder why people with Trucks/Cars modify their mufflers? Basically, this is an invasion of your rights to peace and quiet. Here's what we found on the subject ..appears we aren't the only ones that find this practice annoying...let alone an invasion of all our privacy! Below are answers to the question.. Be sure and check out the videos on the bottom of this page. |
Because they are trying to compensate for lack of parental love and attention. Its like they are screaming out to the world "hey, look at me, I'm someone special!" Think of it like a desperate cry for help from the chronically low self-esteem people in the world. You have to remember, to people with dysfunctional and distorted thinking, even negative attention is good attention.
They think that it makes them bad ***s, I think its a inferiority complex they want attention and they have to do it by making noise.
I can understand wanting to use them to improve performance, but from what I understand the performance gain is negligible; 2-4 miles per gallon increase and a slight horsepower increase? Do you really need it that bad? Or are you just that desperate for attention and want to be a "bad**"?
they are selfish, wanting to be in everyone's centre of attention. they have no respect for anyone around them, as they want to be noticed all the time. why else would they do but to be noticed?
that's so stupid. Its not because we are selfish. I have a loud flow master exhaust and Jim proud of it. I also have a $1000 system in my truck. Ill admit, i like to show off, but its because I like the sound, and other people do too. I enjoy listening to other peoples exhaust. I like having contests to see which one sounds better. Id be glad to come over to your house and give you a taste of what some good ole american thunder is exactly. If you don't like a sweet sounding chevy truck with a nice rumble, you must be a communist. If its too loud, then your too old.
I've asked myself that every damn time an obnoxiously loud motorcycle drives by my house and wakes my baby up from her nap. She cries every time she sees or hears a motorcycle now.
Being considerate of others is not easy and does require personal sacrifice for the sake of others. It doesn't matter whether it's smoking in public, playing loud music, littering, loud exhaust, incessant barking from neighbors' dogs, the list goes on and on. The hardest thing to do is ask yourself honestly and objectively, "is my action going to adversely affect others?". If the answer is yes and you do it anyway, you are violating The Golden Rule. Think more of others and less of yourself. You will get more out of life in the long run and it's the key to living in harmony.
You will note that the loudest mufflers are usually on the shiftiest vehicles. Same goes for those with huge amps for bass...and also the degree of dark glass on the side and back windows windows (police enforcement laxness in all three areas!) Why you would want to call attention to your pizz ant ride by doing such a thing must have something to do with pecking order at the bottom end of the sub-species...
What's the difference between a loud muffler on a car and loud pipes on a motorcylce? They are both just as annoying, but I read "hadenough" bragging about his pipes!! Please don't sit there and write that it's only for safety reasons, it's about getting attention too. There are many motorcycles by me that have the annoying sounds that you hear for about 10 minutes after they fly by. The motorcycle people should also be given the summons for their pipes as well. Stupid is what stupid does!!
Media. Crappy movies like Fast and Furious showing Giant Alluminum wings and coffee can mufflers. I think it was a joke that rolled over. Perhaps a mechanic told a kid a 400 dollar silver painted coffee can would make his car fast. But more over when your a teenager your legally retarded. Addition. You just proved my point correct, the fart muffler coffee can doesn't add power, the cat back system does (larger diam. pipes, camshafts, CAI, those do) you'll make more if you just cut the muffler off. plus rodents and cats won't crawl inside of it. but if you belive a 1inch pipe with a 4inch end increases flow take a funnel and put a coffee can on the other side see if the flow increases. then come talk to the big boys ~2002 camaro (gladly smoke your Folgers coffee car)
I have zero tolerance for people that spend money to make their veh's illegal (mufflers, stereos, etc). The problem is there a lot more of them than there are of us, and that's not even mentioning that 80% of our shift is responding to calls and not actually enforcing traffic.
I think of my ticket book as a tool to use when needed. The purpose of a ticket is to deter someone from continuing whatever offense they are committing, however in today's society, people think we (police) are only there to harass them and generate revenue. Today, a lot of people think laws don't apply to them if they don't agree with them and they believe they are in the right, no matter what. I just continue to write citations for loud music/mufflers and go about the rest of my day. Your not the only one, it irritates me too. I get tired of my pictures vibrating off of the wall because some idiot thinks he/she is impressing someone. __________________ |
Actually, the mufflers/pipes on STOCK motorcycles (including Harleys) are relatively quite. No louder than stock cars/vans/SUVs. Some are even quieter. Most people that buy them though, get aftermarket mufflers and pipes JUST to make them louder. Do they do this so the person next to them in a SUV won't run them over? No. And I know this from having several friends that drive them and hang out with a bunch of Harley bikers. They do it because it is "cool" or you "can't have a bike without having it be loud and mean". Also Every morning at 6AM this guy that lives next to me remotely starts his truck about 3 minutes before he goes outside(which is also illegal if i remember, and is unnecessary - its the summer and is cool in the morning). He has a muffler attached to it, but I don't think its attached the the exhaust pipe because it wakes me up every freaking morning and it rattles all of my walls in my bedroom. (Not to mention the walls in my apartment are 2x as thick as normal walls) He is one of those guys that when he gets out of his truck, he turns around and kisses his truck because it is so big, noisy, an manly. Should I have to move because his truck is overly-loud? Heck no.
What really get me going is the noise that trucks & car make when they modify their mufflers! Is it right that everyone has to hear it when there going down the street? I don't think so!
Resolved QuestionI want to put the loudest set of mufflers on my chevy truck. Which should I use?Best Answer - Chosen by AskerIf, you want to stay with street legal sound for every day driving, and ground shattering sound "on demand" then buy a set of cable operated dump outs. Install them behind the cat which will keep you street legal but still allow for obnoxious amounts of noise. Trust me!!! I have a S-10 short bed with a 4.3, i pull the cable and you can hear me literally a mile away. Good Luck!!!

The Flowmaster Delta-Force is your best bet. Its a 1 chamber race muffler and its very, very, very loud. Don't confuse it with the Delta-Flow, this is the Delta-Force. Just think Chuck Norris, if Chuck Norris drove a truck he'd round house kick the muffler and it would turn into a Delta-Force muffler because the awesomeness of Chuck Norris has to be heard from miles away to warn people that roundhouse kicks to the face are coming.
