I have lived in Rains County for 10 years now. I never thought that I would say that I hate the Sheriff’s Department and everyone that works in it. I have had my dealings with them. I have voted against the Sheriff, Robert Vititow, and the Judge for re-election. They are all crooks and should be put in jail for all of their wrongdoings. I called them for four years trying to get help because of the noise of our next door neighbor’s four-wheelers (which were and are illegal on the county road unless they are registered and have a tall flag), gun shots from the neighbors, and the threats the neighbors made against my husband’s life.

 

      I had taken pictures of the illegal driving of the four-wheelers on the road and also had taken video of them. The Sheriff's department told me that was not enough evidence to start writing them tickets or confiscating the bikes.  (See related story regarding private citizens taking videos for evidence.) They would not just ride them during the day (which is fine), they would ride them between 10pm and 3am. They would wake my child up in the middle of the night screaming and yelling as they would ride the bikes in front of the house. One night the neighbors were riding their bikes and we called the Sheriff’s department, the neighbors loaded up the bikes and left before the deputies got there. My husband went after them staying on the phone with the Sheriff’s department.  One truck turned and my husband followed the other truck to the end of the road and then turned around to come back home. When he did the other truck started to follow my husband back to the house.  When my husband pulled into the driveway the truck was so close to the back of my husband’s truck he had to swerve not to hit the mail box. My husband was walking into the house and the man in the passenger seat rolled the window down and told my husband that he was going home to get his pistol and was going to kill my husband. I called the Sheriff’s department and told them what had happened. (This was the only night that anyone decided to actually see what the neighbors did to us, we had someone sitting in the driveway watching and taking notes.) The Deputies finally showed up and told the observer of the incident that my husband was going to be in trouble, the observer told the deputies what happened and they said that they would take care of the problem. They went to the neighbor’s house and sat there for over an hour laughing and joking around with the people who threatened to kill my husband. How crooked can you get? What gives a Sheriff’s deputy the right to come in to someone’s home they are supposed to be helping and then tell you to shut up?

   This is what the other Citizens of this county have to put up with because of the people who did vote for The Judge, Sheriff Traylor, and Robert Vititow.
