The State hotel tax now is 6 % . which means the combined tax will be 13% which any businessman will tell you is nearing the net profit margin for conducting business.  Once again, our government in all of its wisdom is managing to extract our profit without risk.  To make the argument that another county is not affected by a higher hotel tax therefore we can be taxed in kind,  is very much like my child asking for a new toy because the neighbor child has one.  I wonder if our  representatives understand  what events created the republic we live in today.  I can guarantee  my customers will recognize the difference in cost--- and a percentage, especially in this economy, will decide not to come, or stay fewer nights or go elsewhere.
